What are all the medigap supplemental policies available?

It's important to note that starting January 1, 2020, Medigap Supplement Plans F and C are no longer available to newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries. However, if you were eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, you can still enroll in these plans.

Here's a summary of the Medigap or Supplement coverage provided by each plan:

  1. Medigap Plan A: Offers basic benefits, including coverage for Medicare Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, Part B coinsurance or copayment, and the first three pints of blood.
  2. Medigap Plan B: Covers the same benefits as Plan A, along with coverage for the Medicare Part A deductible.
  3. Medigap Plan C: Provides comprehensive coverage, including coverage for Part A and B deductibles, Part A coinsurance, Part B coinsurance or copayment, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, and some foreign travel emergency care.
  4. Medigap Plan D: Covers benefits similar to Plan C, except it does not cover the Part B deductible.
  5. Medigap Plan F: offers the most comprehensive coverage, including coverage for Part A and B deductibles, Part A and B coinsurance or copayment, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, Part B excess charges, and foreign travel emergency care. (No longer available to newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries as of January 1, 2020.)

Medigap Plan G: Provides coverage for Part A and B deductibles, Part A and B coinsurance or copayment, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, Part B excess charges, and 80% coverage for foreign travel emergency care.

  • Medigap Plan K: Covers 50% of Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, 50% of Part B coinsurance or copayment, 50% of blood, 50% of hospice care coinsurance or copayment, and 50% of skilled nursing facility coinsurance. It has an out-of-pocket limit.
  • Medigap Plan L: Offers 75% coverage for Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, 75% coverage for Part B coinsurance or copayment, 75% coverage for blood, 75% coverage for hospice care coinsurance or copayment, and 75% coverage for skilled nursing facility coinsurance. It has an out-of-pocket limit.
  • Medigap Plan M: Covers 50% of the Part A deductible, 50% of Part A coinsurance and hospital costs, 50% of Part B coinsurance or copayment, 50% of blood, 50% of hospice care coinsurance or copayment, and 50% of skilled nursing facility coinsurance.
  • Medigap Plan N: Provides coverage for Part A deductible, Part A coinsurance, Part B coinsurance or copayment, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, and offers a copayment for office visits and emergency room visits.
