If you're considering a Medigap plan, be aware that each Medigap / Supplement Insurance Carrier has different cost structures and may have slightly different benefits for the same "lettered" Medigap Supplement.

Please read the following information as it is very important!

  • Medigap Supplement Plan F: This used to be a comprehensive plan that covered almost all out-of-pocket costs related to Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). However, as of January 1, 2020, Plan F is no longer available to newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries. People who were eligible for Medicare before that date can still keep their existing Plan F coverage.
  • Medigap Supplement Plan G: This plan is similar to Plan F but doesn't cover the Part B deductible. It's become a popular choice for those looking for comprehensive coverage while paying a slightly lower premium than Plan F.
  • Medigap Supplement Plan N: This plan generally has lower premiums than Plans F and G, but it requires you to pay some out-of-pocket costs, including copayments for doctor's office visits and emergency room visits.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans have a specific set of standardized benefits, but insurance companies might charge different premiums for the same plan. Additionally, some states may have slightly different rules or regulations regarding Medigap plans.

Deductible Amount for Medigap High Deductible Options F, G & J for Calendar Year 2024. Read about the changes for F, G and J: Changes to Medigap Supplements F-G-J Deductibles

Effective January 1, 2024, the 2024 Annual Deductible Announcement for these three specified plans is $2,800. The deductible amount for the high deductible version of plans G, F and J represents the annual out-of-pocket expenses (excluding premiums) that a beneficiary must pay before these policies begin paying benefits. CMS updates the deductible amount for plans G, F and J each year, after release of the August Consumer Price Index for all Urban Consumers (CPI-U) figures by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which generally occurs in mid-September.

It's important to carefully review the benefits and costs of different Medigap plans to find one that aligns with your healthcare needs and budget.
